We thrash Leicester 0-4 at their place!

Writer: Philip Ian MurrayPhilip Ian Murray

Yet another game I was pessimistic about the outcome. This was for several reasons and the most important was that I forgot to use my 'lucky' Bees' coffee mug during the day because we rarely play on a Friday night. Also, Leicester at second bottom of the PL were due a win and they have probably deserved a few more points than they have. Finally, after three away wins in a row we should now easily get enough points to stay up so I wasn't too bothered if we lost. A note about my coffee mug, apart from today I have used it for every game, so it is not 100% foolproof, but if we don't lose then it is definitely 'lucky'. Unfortunately, I couldn't see the game live on Sky as I was rehearsing in the Big Band but my phone buzzed every time we scored a goal (although I half expected it was going to be a Leicester goal). That's nearly what happened as early on Vardy raced clear, turned Pinnock but Flekken made a very good save. Then we should have had a clear pen when Schade was fouled. We took the lead in the 17th minute through Wissa after Damsgaard had threaded a ball to him through the centre of their penalty area. Mbeumo doubled our lead on 27 minutes when he cut in from the right and hit a great left-footed curler past their keeper. We went in at the break 0-3 up after Norgaard headed in a Mbeumo free kick in the 32nd minute. It could have been more as Schade headed against the post and Lewis-Potter's had a goal disallowed for handball. In the second half their keeper made an amazing one-handed save from a Yarmoliuk header after a Mbeumo cross. Then a great long ball found Mbeumo who muscled his way inside and their keeper made another good save, but the ball rebounded to Carvalho who slotted in our fourth in the 89th minute.
